About the Community Classroom

The Community Classroom exists in Shiremanstown so that the Bible Baptist Church congregation can reach into the lives of our neighbors, meet some of their tangible needs, build friendships with these families and allow them to see the love of Jesus demonstrated through our lives.

The vision for a facility from which Bible Baptist Church could touch the lives of Shiremanstown community members has been on the hearts and minds of the congregation and leadership for many years. Planning for such a ministry began in the summer of 2015. In the fall of that year the property adjacent to the church property became available for sale. BBC enthusiastically raised the money necessary to purchase that lovely home, giving the Community Classroom a visible and convenient location in the center of the borough.

For Fall 2017, programming at the Community Classroom will include Adult English As a Second Language classes and Preschool Story Times, as well as an Afterschool Program for recommended students from Elmwood Elementary School in Mechanicsburg. The Community Classroom will add additional classes as volunteers become available and as community needs are assessed.

Volunteers

Our volunteers love kids and are excited to bring their enthusiasm for a learning-filled life to each of the students involved with the Community Classroom. All of the volunteers are fully trained and have all the clearances necessary to work with children. We strive to maintain at least a 1 to 5 ratio of adults to students.
